My Dream
Classroom

What education could look like

Dream Classroom Vision

I created an indoor/outdoor classroom that has a light green and earth-toned theme. I wanted the classroom to feel warm and inviting while also calm and functional. I decided to add tables that are three-sided in order for each group of students to be able to see the teacher while she is teaching, and it also promotes positive collaboration between each group. I also thought it was necessary to have a bathroom in the classroom. Having a bathroom accessible for students ensures that little to no class time is being wasted on bathroom breaks. Flexible seating is offered in various sections of the classroom. In the back left corner, there is a small group table with jellyfish chairs and stools. Along with these, I added picnic tables in the front right section of the room. The classroom library offers multiple types of flexible seating options for students to enjoy while they read. There are two round couches along with a table and chairs. There is also a reading tree with a bench under it for students to sit on. I wanted students to feel like they were actually sitting outside while they read – with the tree, grassy green carpeting, and big windows, I think that was definitely achieved. Surrounding the classroom library are floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in a lot of natural lighting. At the front of the room, I added a carpet for students to receive instruction on, providing a safe and welcoming place for students to start their day and do Morning Meetings. Next to the front door, I added a storage closet so that there is a place for all manipulatives to be stored throughout the year. To the right of the storage closet, I added cubbies for all of the students to put their backpacks and coats. I think it is important for students to have something in the classroom that is their own. The classroom flows right outside into the outdoor classroom space. I designed an outdoor space with hedges and put in swings, trees, flowers, benches, and picnic tables for students to learn at. Having an outdoor space allows for students to learn in the real nature of the world! This is my dream classroom and has everything in it in order for me to be a successful and engaging teacher while providing a rich educational experience for my students.
